If you are an entrepreneur like me, most days you find yourself doing a variety of tasks that you either dislike, aren’t good at or even dread doing! The concept of being an entrepreneur and working for yourself, making your own way, blazing your own trail and leading the charge is exciting and invigorating. When we are in our wheelhouse and making our dreams a reality, we feel so alive! It’s the day to day minutiae of administrating and operating the behind the scenes processes that can make you question if you’re making headway and quite frankly, can suck the life out of you!
I enjoy sharing my wisdom and empowering others. I enjoy speaking, writing and making videos (as long as I know what to say), I don’t enjoy other menial tasks and micro-management stuff and that’s okay! We’re all on a journey and sometimes we are the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker and often times we feel like we’re all those things all at the same time. We’re throwing on different hats, aprons and pulling out different tools constantly. Our desk gets messy, our head is spinning, and it feels as if we’ve lost control. 😲
The truth is that we have a choice and we are always in control. We can continue to do things the way we always have, or we can start delegating. Delegating can be scary! Delegating can take time that you feel you don’t have. Delegating can appear to be too expensive. However, if we don’t take the time to just be the butcher or just be the baker or just be the candlestick maker, we will find ourselves burnt out and possibly on the verge of quitting.
Make the decision today to be who you are meant to be and fulfill your purpose. Seek out help for the tasks that are weighing you down and slowing your progress. Maybe you need to hire a virtual receptionist so that you’re not interrupted when you’re in project mode. Maybe you need to hire an assistant or even a virtual assistant. Before you decide that you don’t have the time or money to do these things, just remember, that if you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting. 😊
