The Amazon Effect: Why Today’s Wedding Couples Demand Speed and How Travel Pros Can Deliver

the amazon effect

About a month ago, Lou and I started to notice big mounds of dirt in our front yard. At first, we thought maybe they were from our sprinkler system, but eventually, our sprinkler guy told us they were molehills.

We don’t worship our lawn or anything, but we do spend some money to keep it looking green and healthy. However, moles will destroy your lawn, and Lou started finding patches of dead grass in our yard from the mole runs.

This Mole Problem Needs to Be Solved

Lou was obsessed with getting rid of these moles. He started watching countless hours of YouTube videos on “getting rid of moles” and doing many Google searches looking for advice or help to solve our mole problem. He purchased the recommended scissor traps and put them all over the yard, but he never even caught a cold with them. This is funny, but it is not funny for Lou.

Then, a friend at church recommended that he purchase some bait worms that would eat and, you know, disappear. Lou now felt like he finally had hope, until he called around all over town and discovered the worms he needed were not available anywhere.

So Lou did what most Americans do… He found the worms on Amazon! Amazon had the worms Lou needed, but every time he tried to add them to the shopping cart and checkout, I received an error message that said, “This product cannot be delivered to your area.” Lou couldn’t believe it! He was beyond frustrated. I mean, he was used to not just finding anything he needed on Amazon but also being able to quickly purchase it!

Many Wedding Couples Are in A Similar Space

Wedding couples are trying to plan their dream destination wedding or honeymoon, and they are obsessed with finding the right resort, venue, packages, tours…etc. They want everything to be perfect and spend most of their time figuring out how to make it happen.

In today’s fast-paced world, most Americans are used to instant gratification, and wedding couples trying to plan their destination wedding, honeymoon, or any special trip are frustrated when they can’t quickly find what they want.

The Amazon Effect

Couples expect to find what they want—when they want it—with minimal effort. The “Amazon Effect” has deeply influenced how couples and travelers now approach their destination wedding & honeymoon planning process, especially when planning their destination wedding or honeymoon.

As a travel professional, it’s crucial to recognize that couples no longer want to wait days for a response or navigate complicated booking processes. They want the convenience and speed they’ve grown accustomed to, which means we must evolve to keep up.

So, how do you meet these expectations as a travel agent and stand out in a sea of options? The answer lies in automation.
