Dream Big, Work Hard & Make It Happen

Have you ever been stuck in a ditch? I can remember several times in my life where I was stuck in the mud, in the snow, or even on an icy hill. It’s frustrating to spin your wheels, try to back up and move forward little by little to work your way out. The hope is that someone is there to help you and offer a push or a pull to get you to freedom so you can be on your way.

One winter, I was stuck in a ditch and that moment changed my life for the better. You see, I injured myself trying to dig my way out of the snow and that resulted in me losing my corporate American job that paid me a great salary, bonuses, and company car. 🤦‍♀

I found myself newly married, on unemployment, and raising five daughters; and knew that I needed something flexible but lucrative to actually contribute to my family.

So, I did what most people wouldn’t and I invested that much needed unemployment check and started a business I knew nothing about.

Along my journey in creating a travel business from scratch, I encountered moments sort of like what we are all experiencing now, where I felt stuck and that all I was doing was spinning my wheels and getting nowhere.

But, just like that one winter where I was stuck in the ditch and my life changed for the better (even though it didn’t seem like it at the time), this season we are in right now dealing with COVID and how it has affected the travel industry is not a moment to throw in the towel, it is a moment to realize that your life could change for the better. You simply need to dream again. ✨

I know, I know. Right now you may be taking it day by day and that’s understandable, but let me tell you… You will be somewhere in a year and if you don’t decide where you want to be, you may be in the same place you are right now! Can you honestly say that is what you want? Probably not!

Here’s the truth, people who are in survival mode don’t dream. And if they do, they dream of surviving not thriving!

Can I give you permission to dream big and set your sights on what the future holds? In doing this, you will recognize that you have control over how you respond and what you choose to do to create a better future. Please understand, this is not a time to shrink back but a time to emerge from the pit full of vision, determination and hope.

It’s up to you though.

You will be somewhere in a year and if you don’t decide where you want to be, you may be in the same place you are right now!

There were many times when I questioned if it was worth it to continue working on my business in pursuit of a life of success with freedom, a life of choices. I wanted those things, but my ability to envision myself having those things was jaded. So, I questioned if I could do it. I questioned if it was worth all the stress and challenges. I questioned if I would have my dream and if I was willing to pay the price to get it.

Stop right there! You mean there is a price to pay to have what you want in life? Yep! Anyone who has accomplished anything in life sacrificed in some way to obtain that position and reach their goal.

Be of good cheer, my friend! You not only have the moxie to achieve your dreams, but you also have the ability to work hard to make it happen! And the best part is it is worth it! ✨✨✨
