If you find yourself frustrated, wondering how to promote your travel business on Instagram, or if you’re a travel agent looking for social media content ideas, you’re in the right place, so keep reading!

I won’t bore you with a long introduction, let’s dive in and help you create a content strategy for your wedding & travel business.

First, let’s touch on the 6 types of social media content that get engagement.

6 Types of Social Media Content That Get Engagements

For example, one time I shared a story about how a man from Greece (who happened to look homeless) randomly proposed to me while I was on an excursion in Los Cabos.

For example, “How to Pack Light”. I have packed down to a science and I used to take way too much on my trips.

I always tell my story of how I was struggling to get leads and working so hard on my business but not making progress and how planning destination weddings changed my business and my life.

When I was in Bora Bora, I went on an excursion where we swam with stingrays and sharks in the wild. It was really exhilarating to overcome my fear and jump into that water to experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This is a perfect post to share helpful tips with your ideal client. Like “Hidden Gems for Your Jamaican Honeymoon,” or “3 Mistakes to Avoid When Planning Your Destination Wedding.”

Like Disney’s vaccination mandate for kiddos, or maybe share a pic of a couple sky diving or doing a trash the dress session and ask your followers if they would dare do it.

You may be thinking, “This is great, Tami, but how do I come up with content ideas for my travel business?”

Great question! The beauty of being a part of the travel industry is that we have access to awesome media, but the overwhelming part is sharing it in a meaningful and helpful way.

May I suggest that you first decide who your ideal client is, what struggles they are facing, and what they need to know to move forward in their planning? Essentially, what are they googling?

Reminder!

Your content is about your client, not about you and your services.

Your Instagram feed shouldn’t just be a bunch of tropical photos with a call-to-action to contact you. This does not inspire, motivate, educate, entertain, etc.

With that said, I can’t just leave you hanging. Allow me to brain dump a few free content ideas to get you started.

Wrap Up

Now, let’s quickly wrap this up and simplify how you’re going to share this content and maximize it.

First, you’ll start with one main piece of content and decide how you’re going to publish it – podcast, blog, YouTube video, etc. It must be something that will give you longevity, you don’t just want to have a content plan that is social media only.

Second, break that content up into bite-sized pieces of information and create social posts, stories, reels, videos, etc. For example, you decide to write a blog called “5 Essentials You Should Be Looking for When Choosing Your Destination Wedding Location”. Then on your social posts, you talk about one of the essentials.

Third, have a call to action. On your bite-sized posts/reels etc, your call to action will be to read your blog or watch your video for all five of the essential tips. Then, on your main piece of content, have a call to action for them to get your freebie/lead magnet as I have below.

Phew! If I still have you here with me – bravo to you! Give me a follow on the ‘gram to see how I do this content strategy week after week!
